A DREAM

That is what this is.
A waking nightmare,
One that haunts you, unrelenting in its ministrations over your weakening soul,
With its gnarled fingers, your heart is molded, battered and forced into acquiescence of the seemingly inevitable,
This, a riveting revelation into man’s fragile heart, his feeble mind.
Your blood boils, your mind get lost in a haze, your persona and character in reckless abandon,
All at the sight of her…

You are shown a path,
It leads to her… her prison, her silken confines,
You follow the path… a tight rope whose thinness you are blind to,
Unskilled in funambulism, you are a new born babe streaking across a crowded maternity ward,
A misstep and you fall into an abyss full of torment,
A dark void filled with shards of sharpened glass dipped in salt and acid to temper the wounds you’ve mercilessly inflicted upon you,

There are others here…
You feel them, you can smell them lurking in the corners, beneath you, atop you,
Their soulless eyes peer, unblinking… unnerving to even the most hardened of fiends,
They seek answers,
Answers as to why one such as you, light in this dark, dare disturb their peace with her,
Why you seek to take away the comforts they steal from her,

You have come, no, been led to this place in search of her,
She has made it her abode, her life,
You wish to whisk her away,
To save her from this demented place, save her from herself and hers alike,
You’ve been nudged by cupid,
A silent arrow prickled at your aching heart,
Gnawing at it, scratching away relentlessly until you submitted,

You want her, this daughter of Eve,
You wish to mold her,
Make her clay into a masterpiece,
Your masterpiece,
If only...

You, unaware the trapdoor you have stumbled upon,
You won’t see it coming,
You shall see the signs, yet be unable to neither comprehend them nor discern their meaning,
She’ll traverse the same road you led her from,
Then, only then will you wake up,
This was never meant to have a happy ending, at least not for you.
